Podar un árbol es algo que si bien no es imprescindible, muchas veces se convierte en algo necesario, bien sea para dar forma a la copa o para mantener perfecta la salud de nuestros ejemplares. En las siguientes líneas veréis los conceptos fundamentales de esta tarea tan importante. Poda de formación: Si queremos que nuestro árbol parezca más ornamental, lo ideal es realizarle una poda de formación en los primeros meses de plantación para situar la copa a cierta altura del suelo. También es deseable para crear en él una estructura de ramas principales fuertes y bien distribuidas. Poda de mantenimiento: [图片]Una vez que nuestro árbol ya está bien formado, lo ideal es realizar una poda de mantenimiento periódica. Con esto lo que haremos será eliminar los elelmentos indeseados, ramas secas, chupones, ramas débiles que podrían romperse… Poda excepcional: Este es el tipo de poda que vemos todos los años en nuestras ciudades, consiste en eliminar de una sola vez todo el volimen de ramaje de la copa. Su nombre científico es Quercus canariensis Willd, perteneciente a la familia de las fagaceae. Debe su origen a la región mediterránea occidental, Sur de Portugal, Suroeste y Noreste de España y Norte de África. Es un endemismo del norte de África y de la Península Ibérica. Es un árbol monoico, semicaducifolio, que puede llegar a alcanzar los 30 metros de altura. Sus hojas son grandes, coriáceas, de oblongo a obovadas, de color verde oscuro y pubescentes por el haz, glaucas y con tomento que se desprende en copos. Florece en primavera, y sus frutos (bellotas) maduran en otoño, las bellotas tienen un pedúnculo corto y grueso y están cubiertas hasta la mitad por la cúpula, las cuales son muy utilizadas como comida para ganado. [图片]Árbol de porte elegante, se utiliza como ornamento en parques y para aprovechar la amplia sombra que proporciona, además otra de sus propiedades (como es habitual en los Quercus) es que tiene acción creadora, protectora y restauradora de suelos óptimos. Le gustan los suelos silíceos, se alterna con otros árboles como alcornoques y le gusta más la semisombra que estar todo el día a plena luz.

Hoy os hablamos de un árbol cuyos usos van desde la industria maderera, hasta la química pasando por la producción de papel, hoy os hablamos del Eucalipto blanco. El eucalipto blanco es un árbol de hoja perenne cuyo nombre científico es Eucalyptus globulus Labil, perteneciente a la familia de las Myrtaceae. Debe su origen a Australia y puede alcanzar una altura muy considerable: cerca de los 60 metros. Un rasgo característico es su rápido crecimiento, razón por la cual se utiliza para repoblar amplias zonas de bosque tras incendios o demás catástrofes naturales. Posee un tronco retorcido y la corteza lisa. Las hojas, en su etapa juvenil, son grandes, entre ovales y oblongas, de color azul plateado y que toman color verde franco al madurar, ensanchadas y redondeadas en la base, gruesas, coriaceas y cubiertas de una cera blanquecina que también recubre los vástagos éstas contienen aceites que destilados se destinan a las industrias químico-farmacéuticas y de confitería. En medicina popular se utilizan las hojas en infusiones y vapores. [图片]Se pueden plantar ejemplares jóvenes cultivados en cepellón o maceta, debes saber que no aguante bien el frío ni las sequías prolongadas y en cuanto al suelo le gusta que sea ligeramente ácido.
