The bright green leaves are fleshy, flat, heart to oval shaped and up to 1.20 inches (3 cm) long. El Falso Alcanfor es un árbol que pertenece a la familia Lauráceas, género Cinnamomum, especie glanduliferum. Sus principales características son: Altura: 15 a 20 metros. Diámetro: 10 a 15 metros. Crecimiento: mediano a rápido. Suelo: de todo tipo menos los anegadizos. Temperatura: sensible a las heladas fuertes. Transplante: tolerancia mediana. Usos: ornamental. Origen: Asia y Oceanía. Es un árbol de gran porte, copa globosa y densa. Sus hojas persistentes, de color verde brillante, se tornan rojizas en el momento de recanbio parcial. Las flores amarillentas en racimos carecen de gran atractivo. Su fruto es una baya de color verde, de 1 centímetro de diámetro, que luego se torna negro violáceo. Su crecimiento es medianamente rápido; con los años, se transforma en un árbol de gran tamaño, generalmente ramificado desde la base. Mientras es joven se utiliza también en macetas. En zonas con inviernos rigurosos debe protegérselo del frío durante los primeros años de crecimiento. Su cultivo es ornamental. Se reproduce por semillas.
